Auto storiche Valpantena

Classic car show

The fastest uphill race in Europe

The event recalls the famous Stellavena-Bosco Chiesanuova car time trial which from 1958 to 1968 represented one of the most awaited motoring events and attracted the best drivers and an audience of over 100,000 spectators. The first edition of the Stallavena-Bosco di speed was organized on 15 September 1958 after the suppression, for safety reasons, of the Salita delle Torricelle, in which an accident had occurred. Thus was born in 1958, the Stallavena-Bosco which in its eleven editions, became famous as the fastest uphill race in Europe, attracted enthusiasts from all over Italy, and beyond, and had the last edition in 1968. At the first edition of the Stallavena-Bosco Chiesanuova, in 1958, about sixty riders challenged each other. At the last one, ten years later, about 200. Those 15 kilometers from Stallavena, in Valpantena, up to the pre-Alpine locality of Monti Lessini, 800 meters higher up, were beautiful for the landscapes, but also for the difficulties that characterized the route. Then, as happened to other famous races in the 1960s, the Stallavena-Bosco Chiesanuova speed race was also suppressed.

The reenactment

In 1986, a first historical re-enactment of the event was proposed, which since 1997 has become a fixed annual appointment since 1997 on the Provincial Road of Monti Lessini.
