The Botanical Garden of Marzana

giardino botanico Valpantena Valpolicella

The medicinal garden and the educational farm

The garden, established in 1980 by the Forestry Corps of Verona, is owned by the Provincial Administration of Verona. It rises among the green hills of the Valpantena, where the L'Ancora non-profit foundation has recovered a vast agricultural estate with vineyards, olive trees, fruit trees, a medicinal garden with more than three hundred species of plants, a farm with animals (hens, turkeys, peacocks, goats, donkeys, llamas), hives with worker bees, for a total area of approximately 50,000 m2.

The botanical garden, which occupies a large part of the area, contains many species of cultivated and spontaneous aromatic and medicinal plants, medicinal and pharmaceutical plants, used for the production of perfumes and cosmetics originating from America, Africa and Russia. But on the estate we also find a splendid olive grove, fruit trees, a vineyard and beehives for beekeeping. There is also a space with farmyard animals and a health path immersed in the greenery of the Venetian hills.

It is possible to visit the tenua from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 12.00 and on Saturday and Sunday by reservation (351 6361560). It is also possible to organize workshops and educational tours on the life of bees and on the study of plants and flowers, from sowing to growth.
